Juneteenth

This past Friday (June 19, 2015) marked the one hundred fifty years of celebrating Juneteenth.

On June 19, 1865 the proclamation reached Texas and effectively emancipated the slaves.

Tell me how you celebrate Juneteenth in your hamlet, village, town, city or state.

Tell me if  this was your first time celebrating the emancipation of slavery in America.

Tell me, how many people do you know who celebrate Juneteenth that are not African-Americans?

Was Daddy Home?

Allah willing some time in the future we would be dealing with the issues of single mothers, siblings and the family as a whole. For now, let us deal with the profiles of fathers.

Since 1960 the reports on the decrease and the increase of fathers living with or apart from their offsprings has various nuances from the religious to the non religious, from the uneducated to the educated, from race and ethnic to the interracial and the multi-ethnic, from love is it to what love have to do with it, from material issues to monetary issues.
Perchance you have heard or read various Pew
Research Center analysis of Decennial Census and American Community Survey data on this topic throughout the decades; nevertheless, your 18 years or more experience is something you would like to share.
Talk to me!

1. What initially brought about this decrement of fathers being in their homes with their offsprings?

2. Were you and your family able to maintained the traditional family structure?

3. How did you and your famiy contributed to this increment or to the decrement of fathers living alone?

4. Did you and your biological father always lived in the same household?

5. Do you know your biological father?

6. If so, do you love, respect and honor your paternal parent as you love, respect and honor your maternal parent?

7. Who do you call dad?

8. Do you and your father have visitation?

9. Are you a father of offsprings from different mothers?

10. Are you planning to become a dad/father?

Here is a bonus question!

11. Do you and your offsprings know and honor your respective paternal and maternal biological grandfathers?

You in the pews, you seated on the floors, you standing in the congregation, you in the pulpit, my countrymen and our neighbors from neighboring countries around the globe respecfully participate by answering at least one question and/or leaving your comments.

Your Greenbacks vs Their Disposition

You should be aware and you should relish the concept! For only those with dignity knows that reaction on this problem is something that is long overdue. Because for many decades the widespread of systematic bad business proliferated our neighborhood. It is a practice by other people that too many African-Americans perceive as good business and acceptable..

Consequently, even when we as a people venture to other neighborhoods to shop too often the treatment for the dignified and the undignified customers are inadequate.
With the understanding that no one has the right to destructively approach an establishment, or to criminally exit an establishment, or otherwise behave in a disorderly manner in or about an establishment; but, as one that is willing to conduct business in an intelligent and civilized manner you should think!

1. How often did you shop at a store where the items did not have price tags?

a. Did you ever think why this is so?

2. How often were you told the price tag on an item was not the true price and higher price was given for that item?

a. What did you do?

3. How often did you see bad or
outdated merchandise on the store shelves in your neighborhood?

a. Did you wonder why this is so?

4. How often did you shop at a store where you pay top dollar or where there is price gouging and your purchases were thrown into a translucent plastic handbag?

5. Have you noticed that stores in other neighborhoods provide paper bags inside the translucent
plastic handbags for their shoppers?

6. How many African Americans realize that they are the boss on the other side of the counter; thus, the customer is always right?

7. How many African American know to respectfully exit an establishment when their dollars are not welcome??

8. How many know that only dignified educated shoppers will
eradicate these and all other bad business practices in our neighborhood by not patronizing the guilty?

Retrospect, Commemorate, Reflect

On Saturday March 7, 2015, President Barak Obama stood on the Edmund Pettus bridge, in Selma Alabama, and gave a celebration speech on the fifty year old event that should have ended all voting rights problems in the United States of America.

The apathetic actions and reactions of the USA government to respond to the needs of its people were televised for all to witness.  Enjoy!

Now, ask yourselves;

1. Should not every non African-American welcome his and her countryman to the polls as the American military forces fight abroad for the democracy of other nations and their rights to vote?

2. Should not every African-American be a registered voter in his and her own state?

3. Since Bloody Sunday should we continue to march on?

4. Or, should we take a dignified stand on human rights and civil rights?

5. Where do we go from here?

6. Should not we reject and abhor the casual utilization of the N-Word and any other derogatory racial terms which are historically attributed to ourselves?

7. With the exception of historical and educational purposes, is not it foolish to think that civilized people will tolerate others nonchalantly utilizing derogatory racial terms attributed to themselves?

Ms. Queen,  Ms. Shae Doyenne,  Brown Sugar, Tonka toy,  Evans Bace and all my visitors, I want each of you to respectfully participate by answering at least one of my questions. Your comments are welcome too and they will be immediately posted!
